Malaysia (2019)

Refresher dives and learning

  Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia

Posted March 11, 2019 by Alyssa Hildebrand

Today the students split into two groups – new divers and returning divers. Those who have never dived before stayed in town for some interactive lessons on Scuba Diving with PADI. The students studied hard and all passed the final test. Which means tomorrow they will get in the water to practice their skills and by tomorrow afternoon, they should complete their first open water dive!

The students who have dove in the past we able to refresh their skills in the morning by doing a Refresher Dive with a trained instructor. After showing their skills, the students were then able to enjoy two more dives and some relaxation time on the nearby Gaya Island. During their dives the students were able to see a diverse array of sea creatures including a hawksbill sea turtle, blue spotted sting rays, cuttlefish, jellyfish, shrimps, nudibranchs, clownfish, barracuda, yellow snappers and so much more!

Tonight the students taking the Advanced Open Water are studying up as they will have to complete 3 specialty dives tomorrow where they will learn peak buoyancy, fish identification and navigation in the water.
