We left Kandy on the blue historical train to get to Haputale. Along the way, we saw beautiful landscapes, tea plantations, waterfalls, and mountains. We got to try some local fare, such as samosas and roti, and had fun chatting, playing cards and playing other games. After arriving in Haputale, we walked down to the cricket pitch to learn cricket. The students and staff had a great time learning to bowl and bat – at the end of the match we only wanted more. Afterwards, we travelled to our cooking class where we learned how to make various curries, cut up vegetables, and how to make coconut milk. We had a fantastic day of activity and are preparing ourselves to jump into service tomorrow.
