We started with a cloudy by clear view of the beach we slept on, and were only mildly concerned by the cloven hoof tracks in the sand near our tents. Was it a cow, or pigs, or perhaps it was Goat-Man giving us a warning? Perhaps we’ll never know! Breakfast was followed by some splashing in the waves before some rain and adversity put a delay on our journey out of the park. Not to fear, some hot noodle soup and the many invited guests to Margaret Thatcher’s dinner party helped pass the time until it was safe to head out. A couple of the group made it out in record time, but the rest were treated to a tough, but rewarding hike to Sai Wan Pavilion and onwards to the Lok Wu trail and some of the most incredibly divers settings Hong Kong has to offer. Even the return of the rain couldn’t dampen the spirits or the singing. Many a ‘toot’ was given for the smiles that the songs inspired. After many hours, the group ended at the Pak Tam Chung Holiday Camp and were rewarded with a hot shower and a BBQ meal grilled over the coals. Some final reflections were had and then to a comfy bed. Tomorrow we return to civilisation and will probably miss carrying our giant packs everywhere we go.
