On the 4th day, group 3 had an amazing time at the Elephant Retirement Park and Karen hill tribe. They spent the day with elephants and people from the village, which taught them how to care for elephants and how the Karen hill tribe survives living so far from the city.
We headed out early morning, to the Elephant Retirement Park. The group experienced making food, feeding, and cleaning the elephants. Group 3 made was rice balls which helps with the elephants digestion. The rice balls include rice, bananas, sugar cane and all sorts of nutritious ingredients. After preparing the food, the group members had lots of fun feeding the elephant. They also got to pet the elephants. Lastly, the cleaning process was the hardest but was the funnest of all. The group members got into the pond where they splashed water at the elephant. At the end of the cleaning process they all got into a huge water fight where they all got soaked from head to toe.
After visiting the elephants, they went on the visit the Karen Hill Tribe which taught them about their culture and life style. group 3 got split into 2 groups and did different activities. The activities included natural dye, making sticky rice, slingshots, medicine and herbs and lastly weaving. Out of all these activities group 3 liked weaving the most. the kids got to learn how to make the traditional clothing and accessories. Group 3 had a spectacular time at the Karen Hill Tribe.
Overall, Group 3 had an exhausting day and everyone was tired to the point where most people fell asleep in the van when they made their way back to the campus (Traidhos).
