Looking up, a ray of sunlight hits my eye. Today is Day 4 of our experience trip in Vietnam. We have already experienced a lot from the previous days and we are now ready for the things ahead of us.
On the way to the kayaking station, we rode on bikes along the roads of Hoi An. As we rode past rice paddy fields, we witnessed ox herds and geese that were quacking and mooing at us. Finally, after extremely hard work and endless sweating, we arrived at the kayak station. Zipping up our life jackets we were ready to kayak towards the island ahead. When we reached the island, a surprisingly strong feces aroma hits us. Looking across the island, the first things we saw was the feces, but upon a closer look, trash of all sizes came into sight. Our mission was to clear this up. After nearly an hour of gruelling hard work, the larger pieces of trash were cleaned up so we kayaked to the station and took a boat to our lunch location. For lunch we had noodles and soup as our main course and many other small dishes in a local family’s house. In the the middle of all this, Hayden decided to eat a chilli that was on the side of the plate and it looked like he immediately regretted it. His face turned slightly pink and he started gasping for air. The boys around him laughed and tried to find water to cool him down. After finishing our meal we headed back down towards a different bike track and rode back to the hotel. We were all really tired and hungry and couldn’t wait until dinner, but for now, we’re taking a nap.
