Contrasting the peaceful day that was on campus yesterday, group one had somewhat of a more eventful time today, with activities out of campus as well as on campus, which were FORRU, archery, team building, and going to the night market.
It took time consuming drive to finally arrive at FORRU, where students got to learn about deforestation and reforestation, and also about the importance of trees and how this organisation protects them. After that, the kids went for a hike around the forest, which was an exhilarating yet exhausting time. Then, they returned to their starting place and planted saplings, ready to grow later on. Group one also participated in team building today, just like group three. Their team building activity was quite different – they were split into two teams and had a challenge to face. There were wooden blocks on the ground, and they had to use 3 wooden boards and rope to get from one side of the obstacle to the other. This was quite challenging, and students learned that communication is key and was the most important factor to the success of this activity.
In addition to this, the students continued their day with archery, which was a unique experience for them, as it isn’t commonly seen in Macau. The teacher demonstrated how to use the bow and arrow, and the students set off to practice their newfound skill. After a couple rounds, they had a friendly competition, which many students enjoyed. To conclude the evening with a bang, group one spent the night at a night market, where they got to buy their own dinner and souvenirs of their liking. They also got to experience traditional Thai food, like mango sticky rice, as well as applying their language class in real life, by bargaining.
While this day was more action-packed than the previous one, it was certainly enjoyable and we were all looking forward for tomorrow.
