Enthusiastic to start the lengthy journey for their day, group three began their second day of experience week by participating in service and activity related past times. These were FORRU, archery, team building, and going to the night bazaar.
The day began with a visit to FORRU, a forest regeneration program, where students learned about how they created the jungle, and the basics of the whole foundation. Then, with a hike through the jungle, they were able to observe different types of trees, caves, and rare flowers that the leaders found. After that, group three went back to the greenhouse, where they transferred saplings into plastic bags so they could have more space to grow until the saplings get planted next year. This trip was not only a learning experience, but also a way to appreciate the beauty of nature.
Next, the group tried out archery, where an instructor demonstrated the basic techniques on how to shoot with a bow and arrow. When they got the basics down, students were able to practice for two rounds to try and hit the target. This part of the day was really fun because in the end, they had a mini three round competition to see who could hit closer to the bullseye. For the team building activity, students assembled at the basketball court, where they participated in multiple games that increased cooperation, trust, and communication with their teammates, one of which included instructing someone else to make a circle with a rope while they were blindfolded. Finally, group three had some free time to go to the night bazaar, where they purchased their own food and souvenirs, able to experience Thai culture and its livelihood at night.
Even though this was an exhausting day, it was still an amazing time, and they can’t wait for tomorrow.
