Today was our first day as Homeroom Helpers, and the first day of introductions and bonding with the children in PK, JK, SK and grades 1-6. Here are some of the highlights and reflections of the day:
“It was a great experience working with the grade 1 kids – they sent out a positive energy and it filled up the classroom with joy. Helping the teachers teach and lead the class gave me an opportunity to learn and adapt to different situations.” – Michael Liu
“Meeting the grade 1 kids was really fun and I had a good time with them. They were very energetic and it was an overall great time. Getting to know them and learning about their various backgrounds was really interesting.” – Mario Ribeiro
“This is my third year being a homeroom helper. I could sense their energy and enthusiasm in their excited tones and emotions, and I’m struggling to keep up! I look forward to working with this group of kids and experience another part of the TIS community. […] This actually happened – me: “I wish I had recess” / kids: “but you don’t” / me: “yeah” / kids: “cause you’re old.” – Caitlyn Gui
“In Social Studies, we learned about being responsible. Comparing them to myself, they have so many responsibilities at home while I always play video games at my house. I feel a bit guilty of having fewer responsibilities at home than the younger generation.” – Owen Hung
