Macao 2: Local CAS Program

An Exhausting Hike and a Trip to the Mangroves

  Macau

Posted March 13, 2019 by nikkitagulao

The second day has come around and we exhausted ourselves after hiking from Hac Sa beach to Cheoc Van beach in the blazing sun. After getting through all that we finally arrived at our destination. We then spent some time picking up garbage on the beach which was a great opportunity to help the environment!

After lunch, we visited the mangroves restoration site near Ocean Gardens and learned more about them as well as the conditions they lived in. We were shown how they tested fresh and brackish water for salinity, pH, and the amounts of dissolved oxygen. We then walked over to where the other section was located and found an abundance of mangroves! The older mangroves were planted in front of the baby mangroves to protect them from strong tides. We ended it off by gathering saplings which we’ll plant later this week!
