On day one, bus 2 kicked off their Experience Week with a trip to the wetlands and an authentic Vietnamese cooking class. Here’s what some of the students thought about the day.
For the first day of activities in Vietnam, bus two went and rode in boats made of bamboo and dung. During the bamboo ride, the people paddling the boats somehow spun us around, up and down. My roommate, Sophy, was screaming her lungs out. We then went onto fishing boats and everyone got to pull up a net that was thrown into the water. Unfortunately, no fish were caught. We spent some time on the beach and then we had lunch on the boat. After that we returned to our hotel for a short while.
After a little rest, we then left our hotel to go into the busy part of Hoi An where there were several colourful lanters lighting up the road to our cooking class! All the ingredients were right in front of us so all we had to do was follow the instructions and cook! We made a delicious marinated chicken, two spring rolls, and finally, a salad. We got to eat what we cooked for dinner with an additional scoop of chocolate ice cream! What a great way to start our trip!
