3D Printing and Production (Macao 1)

TIS e-NABLE

Where: TIS

  Macau, Macau

Posted March 16, 2018 by Todd Voykin

Team Name: Handymen

Purpose: Build a Raptor Reloaded Right Hand for the unfortunate soul in Serbian Kosovo

We finished printer everything today with our 3D printer affectionately named Cynthia, but Chief Builder Wa Chi is about finish assembling the final stages of the build during the time we are writing this Blog. Our group consists of four members: Howard Tong, Wa Chi Lau, Jimmy Kuan, and Gabriel Tang.

Although we are currently progressing relatively faster than the other groups, we have encountered some technical difficulties. Our prints sometimes fail outright, but in the majority of the cases, the prints come out fairly acceptable and only need some sanding down. Also, during the assembly process, we sometimes break fragile parts that needed to be replaced.

It was quite difficult to spray paint our parts because sometimes, our parts were accidentally sprayed with some other colours. However, we were able to complete the paint job at the end successfully. Our team leader, Howard Tong, used his experience in model kit building to help with the painting process. He hand painted many parts that could not be spray painted.
