The Grade 9s had yet another educational, productive and enjoyable day on their 2018 Experience Week. Waking up in Xi’an, meaning western peace, the students participated in the creative element of the CAS Program. They visited a pottery factory and moulded realistic and detailed Terracotta Warriors in which they were able to take home as souvenirs. Afterwards they traveled to the countryside and visited a unique cave house where Mrs Wong and her family live with their adorable dog. This fascinating encounter with the Wong family gave students perspective on their own lives and priorities. The unquestionable highlight of the day was when the students strolled back into time and witnessed the thousands of protective Terracotta Warriors that bravely stand in defence of Emperor Qing. Discovered in 1974 by farmers drilling a well, each Warrior has a unique face and provided our students with history, inspiration and intrigue. The day concluded with an energetic walk through the night market that stimulated all senses. The students had the freedom to try different foods and observe how local dishes are made. Today’s adventures were certainly an unforgettable part of their Experience Week journey and created memories that will be cherished.
