Yesterday we took a trip out to Snake Island as a sort-of finale of our dive trip. There we all did one last dive, earning the Open Water and Advanced divers certifications! This was easily the best dive of the trip. The students were able to see a beautiful untouched coral reef that was brimming with life including many black and white tip reef sharks! Afterwards we landed on Snake Island (which has little to no snakes despite its name) and did a beach clean-up. Afterward the students were able to enjoy some sunshine, play in the water, and drink some coconut water straight from the source! It was a great day out for everyone.
For our last night we had a BBQ and played some games with the locals. It was a good last evening to relax and unwind. The students were still in bed early, exhausted from the week, to rest up for today’s long journey!
Today we will visit a fish market in the town and learn a little about the local culture. Then it’s back to OpWall for packing, certificates, and final goodbyes. Tonight will be a long journey but we leave knowing that we’ve had a successful Experience Week!
