Today we had a slower start than usual, late breakfast, checking out of our hotel, and then on to the orphanage where TIS students provided a delicious noodle lunch arranged by Xuyen, one of our tour guides, and made from all local foods. We ate with the local children. After lunch all students got to know one another through games of soccer, badminton, and a Vietnamese form of hacky sack. One of the local students was very excited that some TIS students had on the same t-shirt as he did and asked to have his photo taken with us.
After lunch we sanded, scraped, and painted three outside dormitory rooms with supplies purchased by our group. Later we were invited to add our personal artistic touches. Several students also made clothing donations to the orphanage, and we left feeling happy that we made a positive impact on their lives.
En route to the airport we stopped at a mall where we freshened up and many of us tried ice skating for the first time. After that we ate a great pizza dinner before heading to the airport.
Before we left, we thanked Hong and Xuyen with a generous tip.
What a great trip! Our memories will last forever!
