Today, Group 1 went to the Elephant Retirement Park to feed and bathe the elephants. We looked in wonder as the elephants grabbed bananas and sugar canes from our hands with their trunks. They ate tons!
After their snack, we went to give the elephants a mud bath, and got pretty muddy and wet in the process ourselves! It was a lot of fun splashing water on the elephants – and each other.
In the afternoon the students visited a self sustaining Hill Tribe. They learned about the community rice field and plants used for traditional medicine. We tried the steps to prepare to weave a piece of clothing and had target practice to slingshots. At the end of the day we made a delicious treat of sticky rice and sesame seeds.
The whole group was super excited to go buy gifts and try thai food at the night market.
