While it may be our last full day of experience week, it was just as full as the rest of our trip. After breakfast, we hopped on the bus to the Hui Ling Center. Our students enjoyed some wonderful performances at the center and we were extremely thankful for the delicious snacks prepared for us. Our students performed a wonderful rendition of “Shake it Off”. We had so much fun teaching our dance moves with everyone at the center! The arts and crafts rotation was a great way to chat with our new friends and practice our Mandarin. This was a fantastic experience for all involved and we send a huge thanks to the Hui Ling Center.
Our lunch was both delicious, and not quite what it seemed. After we finished what we thought was various meat dishes, we soon learned the entire meal was vegetarian! After lunch we headed to The Big Wild Goose Pagoda for a hunt through history! Students were able to chat with some famous figures from Chinese history and ask some questions about their lives. With the beautiful Big Wild Goose Pagoda as our backdrop, this was an entertaining and unique activity for everyone!
Our dinner was cooked by some fantastic chefs: us (with the expert help of the chefs at the cooking school)! We went to local cooking school and were taught to make some traditional Shaanxi snacks. We made dumplings, noodles, Rou Jiao Mo, Liang Pi, and Jian Bing. Some dishes we made and some were made for us. One thing they all had in common was they were delicious! Full from dinner, we headed back to the hotel for our final evening reflection and started getting packed for our journey home tomorrow!
