With twelve hours of travel under our belts and a bellies full of delicious local cuisine (including yak!), the Yunnan Experience Week team is settling in for a night of well-earned rest. Admittedly, the lack of sleep and overreliance on airport junk food, mixed with a dash of a “crisp” 7 degree Celsius weather has certainly taken its toll on our crew with everybody ready to turn in for an earlier than usual curfew (believe it or not, complaint free!). Fortunately, we have a great day lined up for tomorrow with a trip to the local monastery and some exploration of the old town. By that point, we should be acclimated to this chillier front, and more importantly, higher altitude, lower oxygen setting. One thing is for certain – with most of us out of breath by the second floor, I don’t think any of us will be trying to run up the hotel stairs again. I think it’s also safe to assume that that Whopper from Burger King that seemed like a good idea at the time won’t be making its way into anybody’s prospective menus in the near future. Hindsight is 20/20!
Nonetheless, we couldn’t ask for a better group to be trekking with. Looking forward to seeing what our team is able to accomplish in the next week!
