Today students continued to work in elementary and kindergarten classrooms at TIS, while another group went back into the Macau community to volunteer.
The morning for the outside volunteers was spent visiting elderly residents in Macau who live on their own and need special assistance. After visiting the apartment of an 85 year old resident who is blind one student commented, “He was so happy to have us visit and made us sit down while he gave us snacks. He couldn’t see, so we helped to clean his apartment. Despite his condition, he was so positive.”
In the afternoon students were given a tour of the Casa Corcel homeless shelter which is the only homeless shelter in Macau. They have space for 50 men and 10 women. Students spent the afternoon making serradura from scratch side by side with the residents.
