After a good nights rest and a nourishing breakfast, the grade 7’s embarked on a 1 hour bus ride through the scenic lands of Vietnam en route to the temples of My Son. Our tour guide took the bus ride as an opportunity to explain the historical significance of My Son to the students in order to help them better understand the importance of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Upon arrival to My Son, students were quickly amazed by the beauty and architecture of the temples. The students were given time to explore the various towers and took many photos.
For the afternoon, students dined at the first restaurant to ever open in Hoi An, ‘The Mermaid’. Students had their pick of the menu and enjoyed a variety of delicious foods ranging from traditional seafood hot pots to local favourites and western dishes.
Following lunch, students enjoyed a ‘Great Race’ around the streets of old town. This activity was designed to facilitate urban exploration and enhance the students’ knowledge of Hoi An as well as their appreciation of Southeast Asian culture.
Dinner was held at ‘Banana Leaf’ where students took time to share stories from the past days events while filling up on more traditional Vietnamese dishes. Once all the food was gone, we had a short walk to the bus before arriving back to the hotel and enjoying a quiet evening.
