We started our day with a luxurious sleep-in until until 9:00 am. Then it was off to start our amazingly scenic trip through the Czech countryside. The nearly three hour drive seemed to pass quickly as we passed along smaller country roads on our way to Kutna Hora. Here we stopped at a church decorated in bones (Sedlec Ossuary). After examining this site, we explored the town (that has two UNESCO cathedrals) and ate at the Dacicky restaurant where some students were feeling adventurous and ordered the house speciality: meat on a sword.
Contented and sleepy from the meat, we dozed through another 85 km to Prague. Upon our arrival, we checked (czech-ed?) out the the Easter Market in the popular Wenceslas Square, a part of the UNESCO-listed city center. Some students bought souvenirs, some got some traditional snacks, and some went up to the top of the church tower for some amazing views over the city. From here, we crossed the river and climbed up the steep river bank to get a great view of the city from the spot where there used to be a huge statue of Stalin looming over all. A huge pizza dinner followed and a short walk to the hotel gave everyone time for a well deserved rest.
