Day 3: River Cruise, Jungle Trek and Night Cruise
Today we had an early start at 5:30am. Some students had a little trouble waking up. We had a quick bite to eat and then we got into a little river boat to travel down the river to look for wildlife. We were hoping to see a fresh water crocodile, a kingfisher and some more monkeys. We were not disappointed. We spent almost 3 hours out on the river and we saw lots of wildlife. We didn’t see any elephants but we did find their footprints so we are excited that we might find them tomorrow.
We had a late breakfast and then we headed outside for a jungle trek just at the day was starting to heat up. Along our walk we came to a large tree that is hollow inside and we were able to crawl inside
. This time Miki rose to the challenge and climbed in! Although she didn’t stay too long once she saw the bats inside.
We had to end our trek a little early since it started raining on us and we made it back to our lodge just in time to avoid the downpour. Now we are playing cards and relaxing until dinner time. It looks like the rain will stop and the sun will return for our afternoon.
It has been a fun day in the great outdoors so far. Here are the student highlights:
- “Too many insect.”
- “So sleepy.”
- “Too hot.”
- “Nice football field.”
- “Wow, look at that view.”
- “Don’t pet the crocodile.”
- “The bird is up there on the left.”
- “Look, another lizard.”
- “Miss. Wilson did you see the size of that lizard?”
- “When is lunch?”
- “Can we have ice cream?”
