After a smooth and safe bus ride, we arrived at Nine Dragon Lake. We unpacked and hopped aboard the boat that took us to the resort, passing beautiful scenery. After a delicious lunch, the students headed out for some icebreaker and team building activities. The Dragonfly team has been a delight to work alongside, building relationships amongst our students. We then headed back to the resort for dinner and had a brief break before our night activities. We were introduced to the community service we will be doing at the home for the elderly (cooking, gardening, entertainment and socializing). The students then put on their headlamps, carried their flashlights and took a night hike to the area for our Dragonfly challenge. In small groups, they had a variety of challenges that included dancing, funny face making, chants and number of jumping jacks completed. Finally, we had a group reflection on the days activities and learned about our schedule for tomorrow. Tired but happy, students retired to their rooms to relax before lights out.
Here are some pictures to show our first day. There are many more that we will share when we return.
