Today we visited the 3 major post secondary institutions in Edmonton.
In the morning we also met the team from the Alberta international
school on Bermuda.
First stop was NAIT – Northern Alberta Institute of Technology. It was
amazing to learn that they have over 30,000 students.
Then we went for a great lunch at the Faculty Lounge at the University
of Alberta. Then we toured the university.
Our last stop was Grant MacKewan. Previously GM could only offer 2
year diploma programs but they now offer 7 full degree programs and
have 16000 students
. We toured their student residences as well.
After a short rest at the hotel we went to West Edmonton Mall for
dinner and shopping. Complete with its own amusement park, water park
and pirate ship, this mall used to be the largest in the world when it
opened. It was still big enough for us to walk around in circles
looking for the door we came in!
We also stopped at WalMart on the way home. No trip to North America
would complete without a trip to WalMart!
Tomorrow is the first day of the conference and we can wait to meet everyone!
