The TIS boys won a nail-biter final preliminary round game against HKA. TIS took the first set but HKA battled and rallied in the second set and took the Tigers to a 3rd set. TIS took back the momentum in the 3rd set to close out the match.
This set up a 1st vs. 2nd place playoff game against XIS. The boys poured everything into that match, taking a big lead to starting the first set. XIS clawed their way back and squeaked out a set win. The Tigers must have been drained because the second set didn’t see them give as much of a fight losing the match in straight sets.
The boys now await the winner of the 3rd vs. 4th playoff game, with a last chance opportunity to make it into the finals for one final match against XIS.
The TIS girls squared off against arch-rivals, XIS again. The girls were in full control of the first set, on the strength of strong serving and a pounding attack. XIS demonstrated why they are the defending champs in the 2nd set though, building a sizable lead at the start of the set. TIS then came back to prove why they were the first seeded team led by a 10point serving streak from Mika Ao. In a bitter fight, XIS fought off 2 TIS match points, and picked up 2 of their own set points. The TIS girls would not back down though, and saved 2 set points before finally finishing out XIS by a score of 25-20, 28-26.
The girls move to the finals via the automatic berth and are currently awaiting their opponent. The finals are schedule to start at 5pm.
Stay tune and GOOOOO TIGERS!!!!
