My apologies to those who have followed the travel blog regularly. Yesterday was such a busy day that when we returned from the light show at 10:15 everyone was dismissed and went straight to bed.
Wednesday was a fantastic day! Bus B spent the morning biking through the Guilin countryside. The views were amazing and a number of students really progressed in their biking skills. After our bike ride, we headed to Moon hill where 800 steps proved to be more daunting than initially anticipated. Eventually, we all made it to the top and had a lovely group photo. With the improvement to the weather over the last couple of days (yesterday was sunny the entire day), we were able to go bamboo rafting in the afternoon. I can honestly say that I Leng and Melissa are the champions of the waterway after a few hours of rafting through the idyllic countryside. In the early evening we had the chance to do some last minute shopping and then enjoyed the light show with Bus A
.
Bus A spent their morning on a Li river cruise where there was more than one encounter with a slippery mud slope. No injuries though just a few pairs of muddy pants! After the Li river cruise, Bus A went to Shungqiuao primary school to donate their stationary items and library books. The students had a great time playing games with the school children and really enjoyed the experience of ‘giving’. After the trip to the school, Bus A had the chance to go for a short bamboo rafting ride, ensuring that they were able to spend a small amount of time on the waterways of Yangshou and Guilin. In the early evening, Bus A returned to Richard’s (our guide) hotel for a scrumptious feast and then headed back to Yangshou for the light show. The light show consisted of over 600 performers in what amounted to an exciting spectacle.
Today looks like it will be another brilliant day. We are packing up our things and moving on to our next hotel.
