What a dramatic day of soccer with some great weather!
Due to seeding, our boys entered the playoffs in 3rd place and unfortunately had to face RCHK in the first round. Despite the odds, our team took an early 1-0 lead on the goal by Bruno Novo. RCHK scored late in the 2nd half to tie it up and send the game to extra time. RCHK broke the stalemate in extra time to take the win. Goalkeeper Daniel Kim made some amazing stops to keep the game close. RCHK went on to win the gold medal 3-0. TIS was the only team to score against RCHK all weekend!
Our boys then had to face a determined HKA squad for the bronze medal. Bruno Novo scored 2 goals to tie the game up at 2-2. Extra time decided nothing, so the game went to shootout. Pedro Izidro and John Preston scored in the shootout while Daniel Kim came up with an outstanding save to clinch the Bronze in their first ever ACAMIS tournament
!
The girls’ team faced HKA in the semifinals and ended-up going to a shootout. Marika Veith and Kylisha Kiat scored to send them to the finals. In the final match TIS was up once again against the powerhouse RCHK. No team had come close to beating them all weekend and TIS played them hard. In the end they settled for a very respectable Silver trophy! Well done girls!
At the awards banquet, the team MVP’s were announced. The boys’ MVP’s were Bruno Novo and Daniel Kim while the girls’ were Kylisha Kiat, Morgan Tonner, and Marika Veith!
The players finished off the night with a pool party. Tomorrow we depart at 9:00 AM and should be back at TIS by about 12:30.
See you soon!
