Macao 2: Local CAS Program

Scenic Times in ZengCheng!

Where: Dragon Hous

Zengcheng, China

Posted April 19, 2012 by Sandra Kuipers

We love this campus!

After an easy bus ride we arrived at the beautifully sprawling campus of UIS-ZC. We had pizza waiting for us and were shown to our dorm rooms which were more than adequate.

Two of the visiting teams were delayed due to the weather, so we had a slight shuffling of the schedule.

The boys were up against RCHK first who are widely considered the tournament favourites. Our boys gave them a few scares in the opening minutes as Bruno Novo, Bruno Ritchie, and John Preston kept the pressure on. RCHK managed to score 1 goal in the first half and one in the second for a 2-0 loss

. It was a hard-fought game with many chances. Pedro Izidro hit the crossbar. The boys held their head high, with confidence that they’ll get another shot at RCHK in the playoffs.

The girls played HKA in their tournament opener, which turned out to be a very even match. The tigers put on the pressure, but HKA was determined to play solid defense. Niki Leonardos opened-up the scoring early on, but it was followed-up by an HKA goal 30 seconds later. The rest of the game was dominated by TIS, but they couldn’t put the ball in the net and played to a 1-1 draw.

After our games the players went back to the dorm for showers and then enjoyed a beautiful buffet dinner on the campus lake. The rest of the night included movies, basketball, and swimming.

Tomorrow our boys play our old rival Hangzhou, and the girls play AIAN. Keep checking back for updates!
