Today
the students had a chance to see a wide range of incredible things Taiwan has
to showcase. The students woke up in Taichung and immediately headed out to the Earthquake Museum to gain a better understanding of the raw impact the Earth has on our lives. Students had an opportunity to learn about the nature of earthquakes with lots of curriculum ties along with getting the chance to experience what it felt like to be in an earthquake through a simulation.
From
there, the group travelled out to Sun Moon Lake, a famous historic site in
central Taiwan
. The students had an opportunity to experience an Aboriginal based lunch and explore the lakeside pier. From there, we travelled to a paper factory to check out all the amazing work that goes into making different varieties of paper. In addition to checking out the factory, the students were invited make their own traditional Chinese fans. The students are eager to show you their handiwork when they return (not that they’re hoping to return just yet). The afternoon wrapped up with a visit to a paper church. The students were very enthusiastic in exploring the beautiful area surrounding this one of a kind church.
Following
a long drive south, we have now arrived in Tainan. The students had a chance to enjoy a great
dinner in the comforts of the hotel we will be staying at tonight and are ready
for bed.
