We started our day bright and early with a yummy breakfast. Just as we were all piled onto the bus and ready to go, we found that 2 were missing! Much to our surprise, 2 students were still in bed. We quickly hurried them along and they ate breakfast on the bus. (We’ll leave it up to you to guess who these two students were) :]
We headed to the Ten Drum Cultural Village where we had a quick lesson in drumming. A lot of our kids really enjoyed this because they got to practice their rhythms and release their inner frustrations on the drum. Ms. Chu, you would have been proud! From there, we then saw a 20 minute performance of world class drummers. These drummers had a Grammy Nomination as well! We had a lovely lunch at the Ten Drum village where they even served us rice in a drum like bowl with chopstick that were like drum sticks – we were tempted to take the chopsticks with us because they ran out of them at the gift shop 🙂
From there, we went to the Mangrove Eco-tour where we traveled by boat down a stream to view mangroves
. We saw a lot of different animals, including crabs and white cranes. We then headed to Dream Mall, where students had free time to roam around and shop for souvenirs. We ate dinner at the mall, at a place called Pariss Western Buffet! (yes, we had buffet again…and I’m sure some of your kids will come home a few pounds heavier). It was SO DELICIOUS!
As many students were quite tired and wanted free time – instead of going to a busy night market – we checked back into our hotel and the students had free time. Our hotel is BEAUTIFUL and some lucky students even have a jacuzzi in their room. Some rooms are the size of Macau apartments and you can most definitely ask students to show you pictures.
It’s hard to believe that tomorrow is the last day of our trip 🙁 Many students have said, “Ms. Leung, Ms. Kelly…can we stay in Taiwan longer?” We have told them, “We can leave you here permanently to stay longer, but I don’t think your parents would be too happy about that”. We have a busy day ahead of us tomorrow, as we will be visiting I-Shou International School to do a cultural exchange as well as visiting the British Consulate at Takao before heading back to the airport.
Just a reminder to parents that our flight arrives at 8:05 PM GE363 from Kaohsiung to Macao. Parents/guardians are required to come and pick their child/children up unless given permission otherwise.
Parents, you will see your child soon! Hope you haven’t been missing them too much 🙂
