Hello families,
Day one of activities in Chiang Mai was filled with a variety of new and engaging experiences for the students. The students, TIS staff and tour guide leaders met for breakfast at 7:30am and at 8:30am, the three groups set off on their adventures for the day. Mr.Thouret and Ms.Bzdel went on a river study that connects with the Science curriculum. Mr.Go’s group #3 ventured off to do some mountain biking and kayaking. Group #2 and Mrs. Voykin participated in Thai cooking and Batik painting.
Group 2’s day….. We started the morning with a walk to the campus garden. Students picked vegetables and herbs that they would use as ingredients in their Thai meal. All students proved that they are capable of preparing and cooking a meal and cleaning up after themselves. The food was fresh, healthy and absolutely delicious. At the end of the session, students were provided with an apron and a Thai recipe book
. Ask your children to prepare a Thai meal for you. Be prepared for a real treat!
In the afternoon, we enjoyed a 30 minute van ride to an amazing art studio. All students sketched and created a Batik piece of art. Peaceful, calming and relaxing describe the experience. Students will bring their artwork home with them on Friday.
All groups have returned to campus now. Some students are enjoying a late afternoon swim, others are shooting hoops, while others are relaxing in their apartments with friends. Soon we will all meet for dinner.
All three groups will have the opportunity to participate in all of the these activities at some point during the week. All of the students are healthy and enjoying time with friends.
