Tigers Take Home Silver and Bronze!

Taichung, Taiwan

Posted February 19, 2012 by Sandra Kuipers

Hey Tigers Fans!

In our last day of action our boys were in tough against the host school ICA.  Despite a furious 2nd set comeback, the effort was ultimately just a bit short of claiming a victory.  However, the boys still managed to claim the Bronze Trophy!

The girls started the semifinals with a close win over HKA by a score of 26-24, 20-25, and 15-13. In their 3rd and final game against XIS in the finals, the TIS girls played the most complete team effort that they’ve demonstrated all season.  The girls forced a set point in the first set but the powerful XIS team rallied to take the first set 26-24.  The 2nd set was similarly a bitter back and forth battle between 2 teams unwilling to give a single inch.  In the end though, 2 very unlucky bounces sapped the last of the momentum the girls had and XIS took the set 25-21

.  Despite the lose, the TIS girls still performed marvelously, taking home the Silver Trophy in their inaugural season.

Marco Chak and Sally Hao were selected as team tournament All Stars!

After the tournament wrapped up, we had a nice afternoon exploring Sun Moon Lake just outside of Taichung and are now back at the hotel ready for one last trip back to Macau tomorrow morning.

Make sure to congratulate the players on their tremendous effort and dedication.  The road to gold is a long and challenging one, but both teams already have their sights set on a pair of golden performances for next year.

GO TIGERS!
