Greetings Tigers Sports Fans,
We are through Day 1 of our volleyball trip to Taiwan. It was a day filled with adventure and excitement and our first taste of SCISAC volleyball action.
Our teams arrived in Taiwan and immediately built strong bonds with the students from the other participating schools. Suffice it to say, we were really looking forward to showcasing the hard work we put into our game over the last 4 months.
After being whisked away from the airport, we had little time to catch our breath before the action began. The second game of the day had our boys playing against Coach Go’s former team and defending champions from Xiamen, the XIS Dolphins
. Despite facing a strong opponent and a brisk breeze, the Tiger boys managed to keep pace with the strong XIS squad. The strong Tigers offense was lead by a set of stellar performances from Jack Huang and Rex Lim. Jack Huang finished the game with 3 points on 1 service ace and 2 stuff blocks. Rex Lim finished with 4 points on the strength of 3 service aces. Despite a well-rounded effort from the boys, XIS demonstrated why they are the defending champions with 25-13, 25-17 win.
The boys look to claim their first victory tomorrow morning at 9am against the host team, ICA. The boys will then take to the court again at 1pm against Leman International School (LIS). A victory in either game should see them into the playoffs late in the afternoon.
The girls take to the court for a full day of action starting tomorrow morning at 8am against the Taiwan Bilingual School (IVY). The following games for the girls will be at 10:00am against Hong Kong Academy (HKA), 12:00pm against host ICA, and 2:00pm against the defending champions from XIS. A strong effort by the girls tomorrow could also see them in a playoff game at the end of the day… with a direct berth to the grand finals on the line.
It looks to be a fantastic day of action tomorrow, but right now the teams are ready to pack it in for the night. Here are some photos from the action from today.
GO TIGERS GO!
