The TIS Tigers are returning from Chengdu China proud of their 4th place finish in the tournament. The final day saw the Lads battle heroically against teams from Xiamin and Hong Kong Academy in the quarter finals. Both games saw the Boys drop hard fought 3-1 decisions. The toughest match being the quarter-final match against HK. The Boys were leading 1-0 at halftime courtesy of a tremendous strike by Roman Winkler, however, tired legs and inexperience resulted in the HKA team coming back to knock out a brave TIS squad.
The battle for fourth place saw TIS win their second game of the tournament, a 3-0 decision over ICA of Taiwan. Roman Winkler scored a brace and Alfaaz Gouse netted his fourth goal of the tournament to finish as TIS’ top scorer. Gabriel Bayeh was named TIS’ most sportsmanlike player. The Lads get to enjoy a pizza dinner at the Leman School before heading off to a player dance tonight
. The fun continues tomorrow as the team heads to the Chengdu Panda Base to observe the pandas in their natural environment, before heading to the Chengdu Airport and their flight back to Hong Kong and ferry to Macao. Congratulations to the Boys for a very successful tournament. They conducted themselves as true ambassadors of Macao and TIS.
Cheers,
Coach McKenzie
