Macao 2: Local CAS Program

The Hike to the Top of Moon Mountain

Guilin, China

Posted May 17, 2011 by Sandra Kuipers

Tuesday was physically challenging, yet we all made it through the activities. We started the day biking along rice paddies and farm fields. It didn’t take very long before everyone was mastering their bikes through the country side. The mountains in the background were fantastic. After a picnic lunch, we headed up the 800 steps to the top of Moon Mountain. For many, this was truly a challenge. Perhaps it was the promise of a chocolate bar at the top that kept many going? The view from the top was well worth the effort. The best part of the day was the bamboo river rafting. While many of the students enjoyed getting each other wet with their newly purchased water guns, some of us relaxed enjoying the view. After delicious Chinese dinner, we experienced traditional cormorant fishing.
