Macao 2: Local CAS Program

Thursday Afternoon Activities

Chang Mai, Thailand

Posted March 17, 2011 by Sandra Kuipers

Since this morning brought yet more rain, we decided to learn more about traditional Thai culture and craftsmanship instead of mountain biking at the park. Observing traditional umbrella making and painting, hand-carved furniture production, silver jewelry creation and silk production gave us
insights into the long Thai tradition of creating beautiful art by hand.

When the skies cleared this afternoon, we waded knee-deep in squishy, muddy paddies to plant rice. We appreciate food better when we understand where it comes from and the work that goes into producing it.

After all that, hot showers and a dip in the pool back at the school felt pretty good.
