Dear faithful readers,
Apologizes that this post comes out to you so late. We are all safe and sound and we just wanted to recap with you some of today’s events.
Upon checking in and going through customs in Macau, we were told that our flight was delayed by a half hour. Thus, when we arrived in Taipei, we were already behind schedule. To add an element of surprise, one student couldn’t find her luggage and it turns out, that another traveller had the same suitcase – and without double checking – took hers by mistake. Rest assured that we quickly notified airport personnel and her luggage was delivered to the hotel.
At the airport, we met our two Taiwanese guides, and we split the boys and girls into separate buses and headed to Jiufen, a 90 minute bus ride away
. I can’t tell you what happened on the boy’s bus; however, I can assure you that the girl’s bus was VERY LIVELY! Not only did our guide, Edna tell us a little history about Taiwan, but we capped off our bus ride with some LIVE karaoke featuring some soon-to-be SUPER STARS of tomorrow 🙂
Although it was raining when we got to Jiufen, all the students had a lot of fun walking around the street market there, trying new foods and most importantly, BUYING SOUVENIRS for their dear parents…awww 🙂
To cap off our night, we had our buffet dinner at the International Hotel – with scrumptious food, a lot of sashimi and especially an all you can eat self serve ice cream station!
Due to our delays, we did not end up going to Taipei 101 or Shilin Night Market tonight; however, we have been told that our guides will re-arrange some things to ensure that we visit those locations tomorrow.
Until next time, sleep tight and have a good night!
