Greetings from Taichung!
Today we had to get up early (a 6:30 AM wake up call) to travel to the Taichung area from Taipei. After having everyone eat breakfast and load the bus, we realized that we were missing two boys (their names shall remain nameless but they know who they are!!!). It turns out, they had received the wake up call, and then went back to bed. They didn’t even hear Mr. J and Mr. Davis banging on their door! To their credit though, both boys were very apologetic for delaying everyone…
From there, we went to Yang Ming Shan National Park. This is one of the many wildlife conversation parks in Taipei. Some kids were very excited as they saw…..A SQUIRREL. Yes, some students have never seen a squirrel before. We were very surprised 😉
From there, we took a two hour bus ride to Leofoo Village Theme Park and the Wild Animal Park
. After grabbing a quick lunch, we all packed onto a bus and saw animals like the American Black Bear, the Bengal Tiger and the African Lion. I am happy to report that no kids became the lunch buffet to wild animals. After allowing the kids sufficient time to digest, many started their adventures aboard the many amusement park rides. Some, more adventurous than others, were thrill seekers and went on 360 degree rides or rides with A LOT of G-Force.
After an “interesting” lunch, we were very happy to have a good dinner at a local Taiwanese restaurant. What was so special about this restaurant was it’s decor. On the inside, it looked like we had travelled back in time to the olden days and part of the restaurant had been an old cinema – now turned restaurant.
In the evening, we went to Fengchia Night Market. The girls LOVED the night market and some of the boys…not so much. Nevertheless, the boys were still able to find refuge in good ol’ Mickey Ds – eating french fries and ice cream 🙂
We are now settled into a new hotel called Hotel Resort and it’s very spacious and beautiful here. We look forward to a good night’s rest before heading out again tomorrow.
We love the comments that we are getting from this blog and would encourage all readers to post a comment to us! Your individual comments will be sent to specific students and we hope to have the students reply in the next post!
Until tomorrow, a buh-byyyyyeeeee!
