Day 1:
At 9:00 am all 11 of us met at Macau airport along with the Scuba crew. Excitement and anticipation filled the airport as our adventurous TIS students waited patiently to check in and begin … <insert dramatic music> …
EXPERIENCE WEEK!
At 11: 05 only 10 boarded. Roy needed a visa for our brief visit of the Bangkok airport. Still smiling, Roy is determined to make it to Viet Nam. We’re counting on you, Roy! You’re missed.
Mr.Varga and Ms. Barker had plenty to do for our 5 hour layover in Bangkok. It consisted of Burger King, window shopping at duty free and Gucci, debates over “thai massage” or lattes (frapuccinos won in the end), and where to get a decent haircut (turns out – we couldn’t).
The students spent the time following Mr. V and Ms. B around.
Arrival in Hanoi – we are greeted by Anh, our guide for the week. No exchange place would accept HK dollars. Sigh. We all figure out a game plan and get thousands of Dong out. We take the hour long ride to our hotel “Sunshine Hotel 3”, and then promptly went to get some Pho. Terry has stated: “I can’t handle this currency. I feel too rich.” Pho = 25, 000 Dong. Coke/water = 7,000.
Tomorrow we’ll be up at 5:00 am to get a good, solid start on our day.
