Having won the annual SCISAC Basketball Tournament for the 3 previous years, the TIS junior girls basketball team was eager to repeat as champions as they traveled to Taichung, Taiwan for this year’s tournament. From the opening tip of the first game, it was immediately clear that the tigers were the team to beat as the ladies roared through round robin with 5 straight wins.

The playoffs weren’t any different as the tigers’ ferocious defense stifled ICA in the semi-final round and set up yet another gold medal game with rival school HKA. Having seen HKA beat our boys squad a day earlier, the ladies were keen to settle the score on the girls side. The game was tight early, with both teams trying to settle their nerves. However, as the game stretched into the second half, it was clear that the tigers were on another level. When the final buzzer sounded, it was a 62-19 victory for TIS and yet another trophy for girls basketball.
