The TIS Tigers High School Volleyball Team traveled to Hong Kong Academy for the 2017 ACAMIS Gold Division Volleyball Tournament this past weekend (Oct 26-28).
The girls team came in as the defending champs and their momentum from a year ago did not let up. Winning all their games in round robin, the girls was seeded #1 for the playoffs. After easily defeating HIS in the semis, the girls found themselves in the title match against rivals HKA, the same school they had faced in the past 4 finals. After losing the first set 25-9, the girls bounced back and won the 2nd set 25-9 before closing it out in style with a 15-13 win in the 3rd set.
On the boys side, a group of experienced players were eager to improve on their 3rd place finish from a year ago. Winning their first 3 round robin games gave them the confidence they needed to secure a 2nd seed placing for the playoffs. They boys needed 3 sets to get by HKA and moved on to the championship game against ISNS, a team they’ve played against 5 times this season. The boys played with heart and grit for 2 sets but fell just short of their goal. Nevertheless, it was a well deserved silver and a great finish for the team.
A huge congratulations to our players and coaches. Well done Tigers!
