Students in Grade 7-3 recently created self-portraits from words. Working from photographs, and breaking the photograph down into sections by using a grid, the students were able to get the proportions and composition correct.

They also generated lists of words to describe themselves that fit the categories of physical, social and emotional. These words were then used to construct the final lines and shapes that would make up the self-portrait.
