22 students from our volunteer team went on a team stimulation program in Hong Kong last week . They were immersed into two different types of programs, the “Eldpathy” and the other “War Zone 90”.
For “Eldpathy”, students wore special equipments, such as goggles, weighted clothing, crutches, to complete pre-determined tasks (walking the stairs, reading the bus route etc) which simulates the physical conditions of an elderly and the difficulties they may experience.
In “War Zone 90”, students were immersed into a ruthless 90-minute simulated battlefield . They had to make various difficult decisions within the journey, choosing either to be child soldiers or risk being chased by the armies.
At the end of the programs, the students got together and shared their thoughts and experiences with everyone. Ultimately, we hoped that through these programs we can increase the students’ sense of empathy so as to enhance the quality of services they provide in the near future.
