TIS To Host Second Early Childhood Education Workshop

Posted on November 22, 2016

The TIS Early Childhood Education Academy will be offering the second workshop in its play-based learning series on Nov 30, Dec 3 and 7.

The ECE Academy was created to share best practices in early childhood education and provides modular based, hands-on learning for educators and teaching assistants working in Macau.

In the second workshop,  Play-Based Learning: Creating Thoughtful and Productive Learning Activities, participants will have the opportunity to thoughtfully and confidently create meaningful learning activities for children. Early schooling experiences have a profound effect on children’s development and learning. With this in mind, participants will solidify their understanding of developmentally appropriate practice while reinforcing their knowledge of what is most important for young children to learn. They will analyse a variety of common classroom activities, learn how make intelligent use of our current resources, and ultimately be thoughtful providers of play-based learning opportunities.

Wednesday, November 30:  4:00 to 6:00 pm
Saturday, December 3:  9:00 am – 12:00 pm
Wednesday, December 7:  4:00 to 6:00 pm

Workshop facilitator Karen Holmes has more than twenty years of teaching experience. She began her career in Canada as a kindergarten teacher and was an early literacy and numeracy specialist, hosting many workshops for teachers in the region. She has also been the Kindergarten Division Coordinator at TIS for the past seven years.

The workshop will take place at TIS.  Register here.
