TIS hosted 8 different schools this past weekend in the ACAMIS Orange Division Basketball Tournament. The TIS boys recovered from their loss in the opener and won every game thereafter in convincing fashion to give themselves a berth in the championship game. Though they fell just short against a very experienced Nanjing squad without 2 key players, the boys played beautiful basketball and earned themselves a very deserving silver trophy.
On the girls side, our Tigers dominated the competition all tournament long winning all of their pool games. As fate would have it, the championship game featured yet another showdown with our rivals from Hong Kong Academy. Our girls took a convincing lead early in the championship game and never looked back, taking home their second ACAMIS gold medal in a row. What a huge accomplish for both teams.
Congrats to all the players and coaches Roberge, Pao, and myself (ha!).
Thank-You’s!
I also want to take a minute here to thanks all the people who helped organize and run the ACAMIS tournament. An event involving 200 visitors is no easy feat and I can’t possibly name all the people who lent a helping hand but I do want highlight some special individuals who showed the visitors what our brand of hospitality and community is all about!
Members of the Athletics and ECA committee who gave up their time to run this event. Especially Caitlin, Lindsey, Paul, Christian, Ryan K, John and of course Vivian!
Jonas, Gavin, Janice, and the entire facilities team for all their hard work in setting up the venue. Top notch job!
Nurse Jill for caring for the many injured athletes.
Karen Tho for being simply amazing and putting together an awesome video for the tournament banquet.
Ms. Ip and Ms. Wong and all the performers who started the tournament with a bang.
Lily Mak for arranging a myriad of transportation bookings all week long and dealing with the bus company late into the evening.
Billy Ng and all members of the TIS Athletics Council for volunteering their free time to run the event.
Here are the highlights from the tournament. Video credit: Karen Tho, Communications Intern
