TIS Student Plays Key Role in Kid’s Ocean Day Activities in HK

Posted on November 5, 2016

Grade 4 student Ty Curnow has something to be proud of – his artwork was selected from over 900 submissions in the Kid’s Ocean Day drawing competition. Ty’s image of a monster devouring oceans with garbage was used to create a human art piece on Repulse Bay Beach this past Thursday. The message “Stop Trashzilla!” was also incorporated into the design.

TIS leadership students from grades 3-6 attended the event and took part in the activity aimed at raising awareness of ocean protection and the plight of plastic pollution.

Ty’s artwork will also be used to make plaques which will be placed on storm sewers in Hong Kong to further draw attention to caring for the ocean’s ecosystem.

Way to go Ty!
