Grade 12 student Coco Ieong has been named a Macau Outstanding Teenager in the category of Personal Achievement by the YMCA. Coco is a star swimmer for the TIS swim team and also represents Macao at numerous international meets.
More than 200 students were nominated for the Macau Outstanding Teenagers awards. Through interviews and training, Coco was short listed to the top 53. There were 3 categories: Personal Achievement, Community Involvement and Overcoming Obstacles. Coco captured one of the three places in Personal Achievement.
“Even with all the time in the world, I can’t really express how much this award means to me. Getting this award proves that my hard work over the years has finally paid off. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family, my teachers, coaches, and friends for always being there for me through everything. Without them, I would not have been able to be the person I am today.”
Organized by the YMCA of Macau and sponsored by the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau and MGM, the fourth Macau Outstanding Teenagers award presentation ceremony was held last Saturday at MGM Macau’s Grand Ballroom, where a total of 15 teenagers were presented with awards.
Way to go Coco! You have made TIS very proud!
