TIS Receives 5th Corporate Donation From Sands China Ltd.

Posted on July 8, 2014

Sands China Ltd. has once again shown its long-standing commitment to education in Macao with a MOP 1.4 million donation to The International School of Macao. TIS Board Chairman John Crawford and Head of School Howard Stribbell received the donation at an official cheque presentation held at The Venetian Macao on July 7th. The event was also attended by senior management of Sands China Ltd. including President and Chief Executive Officer, Edward Tracy; Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Antonio Ramirez; and Senior Vice President of Public Relations and Community Affairs, Melina Leong.

In addition to its latest contribution, Sands China Ltd. has also made four previous donations to TIS. The company gave MOP 1.4 million in prior years, bringing the total to MOP 7 million in donations to the school. Sands China Ltd. is a Jade Lotus sponsor, the highest-level sponsor under the Business Supports Education program.

“Sands China Ltd. has been a significant supporter of TIS over the years and has contributed much to our growth as a school”, says Howard Stribbell, adding, “Their ongoing support has allowed us to expand programs and acquire state-of-the art technology to improve the learning environment at all grade levels.”

As a non-profit school, TIS faces the on-going challenge of delivering high quality education while also offering affordable tuition fees. In 2005-2006, the Business Supports Education program was introduced as a major initiative to encourage Macao businesses to support education through the introduction of new programs and the enhancement of existing programs each year.

“The generosity of Sands China Ltd., and our other Business Supports Education contributors, has made a difference to our school and we look forward to a continued positive relationship in the years to come,” says Stribbell.
