For the second year in a row, TIS is set to collaborate with organizers of the Conference for Intellectually Disabled People in Asia, which will be held at our school on Tuesday, April 18th.
TIS middle school students will work and learn alongside athletes with some form of disability. There will be a variety of workshops including zumba, boxing, basketball, Cross fit, African drumming, art, theatre sports and painting, as well as outdoor sports such as golf. All activities are designed to endorse a shared learning experience for all.
“The intention is to ensure that our students fully participate and engage with people with disability, to gain an in depth understanding and awareness of individuals who continue to surprise, and debunk myths we may traditionally hold regarding the lives of the disabled”, says Rovanna Bawden, Student Support Department Head, adding, “We know that this is an amazing opportunity to support this meaningful movement.”
