TIS Students Get A Taste Of French Gastronomy

Posted October 29, 2013 by Sandra Kuipers

Twenty-five secondary students enjoyed some decadent home-made chocolates and learned about the origins of coffee at a tasting class on Monday, October 28 in the secondary library.  Pastry Chef Astoria Su Min Koh from the Tasting Room at Crown Towers and Jeremy Souders, Barista at The Seasons were the guest speakers. The event was part of la Semaine du Goût or “The Week of Taste” which promotes French culture and culinary cuisine and launched in Macau for the very first time yesterday.  Writer and television personality Jean-Luc Petitrenaud created la Semaine du Goût in France more than two decades ago to educate children and adults about French gastronomy through special school programs and menus, public workshops and cooking demonstrations by well-known chefs. Mr. Petitrenaud was the guest of honour at the tasting class. TIS students served as MC’s for the event, providing translation in English, French and Mandarin.
