TIS Chinese New Year Celebration

This year, Chinese New Year falls on Saturday, January 28th, which will see the Chinese zodiac sign change from monkey to rooster.

TIS will celebrate this important Chinese festival on Friday, January 20 in the MPR and outside on the red mat area. Parents are welcome to attend! The schedule for the day is as follows:

8:35-9:15 am Grade 1-6 (CNY performance)
9:15-9:25 am Presentation to Neil Johnston, TIS Board of Governors
9:30-10:20 am PK-SK (Activities)
10:25-11:25 am Gr. 1-3 (Activities) 
12:15-1:15 pm Gr. 4-6 (Activities)
1:30-3:00 pm Gr. 7-12 (CNY performance followed by activities

The Chinese New Year performance will feature a traditional lion dance, Chinese martial arts, acrobatics, clowns, a magic show and the popular face-changing!

There will also be many activities for parents and students to enjoy, including shadow puppets, stilt walking, Chinese tea ceremony, face painting and dumpling making, as well as craftsman booths, such as dough figurines, sugar painting, woven straw, papercut and Chinese knots.

Students should wear Chinese clothing or their school uniform.
